• What is Force?

Force is a push or a pull applied on an object.

Whenever you push a door, pull a drawer, kick a football, or lift a bag, you are applying force.

    In simple words:
👉 Force is anything that can make an object move, stop, change direction, or change shape.

    📌 Effects of Force

A force can do many things. Here are the main effects:

    1. Force can change the state of motion

    • If an object is at rest, force can make it start moving.
Example: Kicking a football makes it move.

    • If an object is moving, force can make it stop.
Example: Catching a ball stops it from moving.

    2. Force can change the speed of an object

    • Force can increase speed.
Example: When you pedal a bicycle harder, it goes faster.

    • Force can decrease speed.
Example: Applying brakes reduces the speed of a car.

    3. Force can change the direction of motion

Even without stopping an object, force can change its direction.
Example: A cricket ball changes direction when a batsman hits it.

    4. Force can change the shape or size of an object

Force can squeeze, stretch, bend, or press things to change their shape.
    Examples:

    • Pressing a rubber ball

    • Stretching a spring

    • Molding clay

    5. Force can stop a moving body

A force is needed to stop something that is already moving.
    Example:

    • A goalkeeper uses his hands to stop a football.

    • Friction between road and tyres helps stop a bicycle.
